इंडियन प्रीमियर लीग (आईपीएल) रोहित शर्मा ने अपनी कप्तानी में पांच पांच बार मुंबई इंडियंस को खिताब जिताई और टीम इंडिया और आईपीएल के फ्रेंचाइजी  आरसीबी के t20 के कप्तान  विराट कोहली ने एक भी खिताब नहीं जीती इसलिए रोहित शर्मा और विराट कोहली में से कौन है बेहतर ? इस पर लगातार बहस छिड़ी हुई है 10 नवंबर को रोहित शर्मा ने मुंबई इंडियंस के लिए पांचवा  खिताब जीता, इसके बाद से बहस छिड़ी हुई है कि क्या रोहित शर्मा को टी-20 का कप्तान बना देनी चाहिए/ इसको लेकर पूर्व क्रिकेटर गौतम गंभीर आकाश चोपड़ा के बीच बहस देखने को मिली गौतम गंभीर का मानना है कि रोहित शर्मा का T20  की कप्तानी दे देनी चाहिए, जबकि आकाश चोपड़ा नहीं चाहते कि अभी टीम में कप्तानी बदलनी चाहिए |

' इस पर गंभीर ने कहा',जब हम आईपीएल के आधार पर खिलाड़ियों को चुन सकते हैं,तो टीम के कप्तान को क्यों  नहीं चुन सकते? आईपीएल है मान लिया, लेकिन जो इंटरनेशनल लेवल पर प्रदर्शन है उसका क्या, वह इंटरनेशनल लेवल का माना जाएगा| अगर किसी ने बाहर के लिए अच्छा ही किया तो आईपीएल खराब ही रहे तो कोई बात नहीं /  अभी तक कोहली ने T20 क्रिकेट में कप्तान के तौर पर कुछ गलत नहीं किया/ आकाश शुक्ला की इस बात से गंभीर बिल्कुल सहमत नहीं नजर आए|
